Back to the story,

The Name: MadKiwi

Mad Kiwi was formed in Brisbane back in 1996. Initially, I was a race driver and team owner, and I became known as Mad Kiwi after a commentator at the Brisbane Archerfield Speedway announced, “Now folks, watch this MAD KIWI” during one of my races. From that moment, I was identified by that name, and the team was established under it, leading to the creation of Mad Kiwi Racing Australia, Mad Kiwi Transport, and MadKiwi Finance.

The brand Mad Kiwi began there, and I learned about branding early on. My journey into web design, however, didn’t start until after a serious motorcycle crash where I sustained a severe leg injury that was deemed a partial amputation. This life-changing event led to multiple operations and an extended stay in the hospital, where I was told, “You'll never walk again."

# DON’T DO IT, PEOPLE—trust me.

While I was in a wheelchair and feeling bored, I decided to build my first international website. I started importing machinery into Australia through a company called Hyder Australia and later created a website for the Hong Kong market. This experience taught me what content was valuable for a website and what was unnecessary.

And you’re lucky that I’m only drawing it. Wink Wink.
